This Privacy Policy applies to Quran - Ayah of the Day on iOS and Android.
Quran - Ayah of the Day is designed to help you reflect on the Quran privately and peacefully. We do not require an account, we do not sell personal information, and we do not use advertising trackers.
Information We Store on Your Device
Most app data is stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to our servers.
This may include:
- Saved ayahs and bookmarks
- App settings, such as text size, reciter, translation, notification time, and display preferences
- Selected backgrounds and sharing preferences
- Daily ayah/widget data
- Audio, translation, timing, and image cache files
- Ayah Pro purchase status
- Video export limits for the free tier
Deleting the app removes locally stored app data from your device, except for purchase records maintained by Apple or Google.
Purchases
Quran - Ayah of the Day offers optional in-app purchases, including a one-time Ayah Pro lifetime upgrade and optional tip jar purchases.
Purchases are processed by:
- Apple App Store on iOS
- Google Play Billing on Android
We do not receive or store your payment card details, billing address, or full payment information. Apple or Google may provide the app with basic purchase information needed to unlock Pro features, such as the purchased product ID and entitlement status.
You can restore eligible purchases using the Restore Purchase button in the app.
Analytics
We use Mixpanel analytics to understand general app usage and improve the product.
Analytics may include events such as:
- App opened
- Screen viewed
- Paywall viewed
- Purchase started, completed, failed, or restored
- Settings changed
- Feature usage, such as sharing, bookmarks, audio playback, or onboarding completion
Analytics may include technical information such as:
- Device type
- Operating system version
- App version
- Country or region inferred from network information
- A randomly generated analytics identifier
We do not use analytics to collect your name, email address, contacts, messages, or payment details.
We do not sell analytics data.
We do not use analytics for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Quran Content and Translation APIs
Some Quran content is bundled directly in the app. Other content may be fetched from public Quran data services, including Quran.com APIs, when you use features such as additional translations or word timing/highlighting.
When these requests are made:
- The requested Quran content is fetched from the third-party service
- Your IP address may be processed by that service as part of normal internet communication
- We do not send your name, email, saved ayahs, or personal notes
- Fetched content may be cached locally on your device to improve performance
These third-party services are governed by their own privacy practices.
Audio Recitation
When you listen to Quran recitations, audio files may be streamed or downloaded from third-party audio providers.
During audio streaming or downloading:
- Your device contacts the audio provider directly
- Your IP address may be processed by the provider as part of normal internet communication
- Audio files may be cached locally on your device
- We do not receive a record of which specific recitations you personally listen to
Notifications
Daily ayah notifications are scheduled locally on your device.
We do not use push notification services to track user behavior. Notification times and preferences are stored locally in the app.
Widgets
If you use the home screen widget, the app stores the current ayah and related display settings locally so the widget can show them.
On iOS, widget data may be shared locally between the app and widget using Apple's App Group storage. On Android, widget data may be stored locally using Android preferences. This data is not uploaded to our servers.
Photos, Sharing, and Video Export
When you share an ayah as an image or video:
- The image or video is generated on your device
- We do not receive or store the shared content
- Content is only sent to the apps or services you choose from the system share sheet
- If you save content to Photos or your device gallery, the app may request the required system permission
Free users may see a watermark on shared content. Ayah Pro users can share without the watermark.
Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Your contacts
- Your precise location
- Your payment card details
- Your private messages
- Your personal religious notes
- A server-side reading history tied to your identity
We do not create user accounts.
We do not sell personal information.
We do not show ads.
Quran.com Account (Optional Sign-In)
The app offers an optional sign-in with your Quran.com account, powered by the Quran Foundation OAuth 2.0 / User APIs (operated by Quran Foundation). When you choose to sign in:
- You are redirected to a Quran.com hosted login page to authenticate.
- The app records that you opened a verse on a given day so your daily reading streak can be tracked across Quran.com and other connected Quran apps.
- The app reads your current streak count to display it inside the app.
What we send to Quran Foundation: authentication tokens, the verse reference
you viewed (e.g. 1:1), and the date.
What we receive: an authentication token and your current streak count.
Where the token is stored: only in the iOS Keychain or Android secure storage on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your account data. Token exchange is performed by a stateless serverless function we host that does not log or persist your tokens.
Sign-in is optional. The app's full features (daily ayah, audio, translations, bookmarks, sharing, widget, notifications) work without signing in.
You can disconnect at any time via Settings → Quran.com Account → Sign Out, which removes the token from your device.
Quran Foundation's privacy practices are governed by their own privacy policy: https://quran.com/privacy
Third-Party Services
The app may use the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store and StoreKit for iOS purchases
- Google Play Billing for Android purchases
- Mixpanel for product analytics
- Quran.com / Quran Foundation APIs for translations, Quran data, and (optional) account-based streak tracking
- Third-party Quran audio providers for recitation playback
Each third-party service may process data according to its own privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
Quran - Ayah of the Day does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require accounts, social features, or direct messaging.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Data Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
Analytics data may be retained by Mixpanel for product improvement and operational purposes. Because the app does not require accounts, we may not always be able to identify analytics data belonging to a specific user.
Purchase history is retained by Apple or Google according to their own policies.
